ChatGPT ads. Below the answer to your buyer's question.

ChatGPT now shows labelled ads below some of its answers, in 89 countries including the US, the UK and the whole EU. The channel is in beta and OpenAI changes it often, so we start small, measure the cost per enquiry and tell you plainly if it does not pay.

What it looks like

The answer first, then a labelled ad.

ChatGPT answers the question first. When a sponsored product or service fits the conversation, an ad can appear below the answer, labelled Sponsored and kept apart from it. The ad does not change what ChatGPT says. The example is an illustration, and the business in it is made up.

  • Ads go only to logged-in adults on the Free and Go plans. Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu are ad-free, and under-18s see none.
  • Free users can switch ads off in exchange for lower limits.
  • Advertisers do not get the chat or any personal data. Reports show totals: impressions, clicks and conversions.

I'm getting quotes for a new kitchen. What should a good quote include?

A good quote is itemised: units, worktops, appliances, plumbing, electrics, removal of the old kitchen and any repairs to walls and floors. It should also give a start date, how long the work will take and when each payment is due. Ask what could change the price once work begins.

What you get

What we take care of.

The ad budget goes straight to OpenAI and is billed to your company. We charge a management fee, never a percentage of spend, so we have no interest in you spending more than you need to.

The readiness check

First we find out whether the channel is open to you at all. If it is not, you keep the test budget and we tell you what is open instead, such as AI SEO.

  • Whether ChatGPT ads run where your company is registered
  • Whether your category is allowed, restricted or banned
  • The questions your buyers ask before they buy
  • Whether your tracking can count an enquiry or a sale
  • A written go or no-go, with the reasons

Comparison

Google Ads and ChatGPT ads, side by side.

Both put your offer in front of someone with a question. The mechanics differ, and so does what you can see. Our advice for most businesses: keep Google Ads as the base and give ChatGPT ads a test budget of their own.

How it runs

A small test first, then a decision.

  1. Week 1

    The readiness check

Where your company is registered, whether your category is allowed and whether your tracking works. If any answer is no, we stop there and you spend nothing on ads.

  2. Week 2

    Account and first campaign

The account opens in your company's name, tracking goes in, and one campaign starts on a small budget.

  3. Weeks 3 - 8

    A fair test

The same offer and landing page as your other ads, so the cost per enquiry compares like for like.

  4. Ongoing

    Keep, change or stop

OpenAI changes formats, bidding and markets often. We follow the changes, and if the channel stops paying, we tell you to stop.

Who this is for

Who it works for, and who it does not.

It makes sense if:

  • Your company is registered in one of the 89 countries with ChatGPT ads
  • Your buyers research and compare before they buy
  • You already run Google Ads and know your cost per enquiry
  • You can give a test budget two months before judging it

It does not make sense if:

  • Your category is banned or restricted, such as gambling, dating, political ads or financial services outside the US
  • You need a predictable cost per enquiry from week one, which nobody can promise without official benchmarks
  • You have nobody to answer the enquiries the ads bring in

Let us be plain: the channel is months old, still a beta, and OpenAI changes formats, bidding and markets often. Everything on this page was checked on 6 November 2026, and if a rule has changed since, we will tell you on the call.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about ChatGPT ads.

Are you an OpenAI partner?

No. OpenAI names four agency partners: Dentsu, Omnicom, Publicis and WPP. We work in the self-serve Ads Manager, in an account that belongs to your company, so you can carry on without us at any time.

Can our company buy ChatGPT ads?

Yes, if it is registered in one of the 89 countries where they run, such as the US, the UK, any EU state, Norway or Switzerland. Self-serve buying is still a beta. The account belongs to your legal entity, and its country cannot be changed later.

What about the Western Balkans?

Serbia was added on 21 October 2026, and a company registered there can open a beta self-serve account or buy through a technology partner. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Albania are not on OpenAI's self-serve list, so businesses registered there cannot open an account themselves yet.

How are the ads targeted?

By the topic of the conversation, with no keywords to buy. Past chats and memory count only where personalisation is available and switched on, and in the EEA and Switzerland ads launched without it, on context alone. Whether personalisation applies in Serbia is not confirmed.

What is the minimum budget?

OpenAI states $25 per campaign per day in US dollars, and the minimum varies by billing currency. The Serbian dinar, for one, is not in the published table, so we check the billing currency before the account opens. Country, currency and time zone cannot be changed later.

Which businesses cannot advertise?

Gambling, dating, tobacco, adult content and political ads are banned. Health ads are restricted, legal services are largely barred, and outside the US financial-services ads are generally not allowed. ChatGPT also shows no ads in conversations about health, mental health or politics.

How big is the channel?

Smaller than the headline number. OpenAI's figure of 1.2 billion weekly users, given at DevDay on 29 September 2026, counts every user worldwide, and ads go only to logged-in adults on Free and Go. The $1B run rate and the 100,000+ advertisers are also OpenAI's own figures, and the advertiser count is cumulative since launch.

Can we use image ads, carousels or click-to-chat?

Not as standard yet. Image ads during image generation and Sponsored Agents, where the ad opens a chat with the brand's AI agent, are US-only tests with select advertisers. Product carousels built from a feed are also still in testing.

Test small. Keep what pays.
